Details Itinerary
Your adventure begins in Nairobi, where you will be met by your guide and driven to Samburu National Reserve in the rugged northern region of Kenya. The journey takes you through scenic landscapes of arid savannah and acacia forests, giving you a taste of the wild beauty that defines this part of the country. Upon arrival, check into your lodge or tented camp, enjoy a delicious lunch, and prepare for an afternoon game drive. As the sun sets over the Samburu plains, you will begin spotting some of the reserve’s unique wildlife, including the Samburu Five (Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, and gerenuk). Return to your accommodation for dinner and a restful overnight stay
Start your day early with a morning game drive to catch the animals while they are most active. Samburu’s landscape is home to an impressive variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, cheetahs, and crocodiles in the Ewaso Ng’iro River. The reserve is also rich in birdlife, with over 450 species of birds to be spotted. After an exciting morning, enjoy a picnic lunch amidst the wilds of Samburu before continuing your exploration of the park. The afternoon drive will give you another chance to witness the reserve’s wildlife in their natural habitat. As dusk falls, return to your camp or lodge for a hearty dinner and another peaceful night in the wild.
After breakfast, depart for the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, located at the base of the breathtaking Mount Kenya. This 90,000-acre conservancy is home to a rich diversity of wildlife, including the famous Big Five (lions, elephants, leopards, buffaloes, and rhinos). Upon arrival, you will check into your lodge and have lunch before heading out on an afternoon game drive. Ol Pejeta is one of the best places to see the critically endangered northern white rhino and is renowned for its conservation efforts. Along with the opportunity to see incredible wildlife, the conservancy also offers insight into its remarkable conservation programs, including a visit to the chimpanzee sanctuary, home to rescued chimps from the illegal pet trade. As the day concludes, return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.
On your final day, wake up early for a morning game drive in Ol Pejeta to catch a glimpse of any wildlife you might have missed, or perhaps even spot a predator on the hunt. The open savannahs and rich forests of Ol Pejeta are full of life, with opportunities to spot lions, giraffes, and zebras against the dramatic backdrop of Mount Kenya. After your game drive, return to the lodge for a delicious breakfast, then begin your journey back to Nairobi. Depending on your time of arrival, you can enjoy some leisure time in Nairobi or proceed directly to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your flight.
